Brentano is excited to announce that several of our textiles have made Material Bank’s Top Materials List of 2024! Among the standout designs are Scene, Altitude, Patchwork and our organic wallcovering, Hikaru.
Material Bank, the world’s leading platform for sourcing and sampling materials, recently revealed its list of the most-sampled materials for 2024. The list highlights the most sought-after products, showcasing a dynamic blend of innovation and timeless appeal.
Here’s a closer look at each of our featured designs:
Scene (Paper Clip) – This modern plaid is a refined wool blend flannel that combines subtle detailing with sophisticated scale. Available in 16 rich colorways, Scene is a reversible 56” wide upholstery fabric that works beautifully as both a statement piece or a stylish accent. Its discreet pattern and versatile design make it ideal for a variety of interior settings, from residential to commercial.
Altitude (Fortune Cookie) – Altitude combines playful texture with refined elegance. This fabric is crafted using a unique clipping technique that creates a raised, textural effect, affectionately called “The Beard” by Brentano’s design team. Available in four vibrant colorways, including Monarch Butterfly and Fortune Cookie, Altitude is perfect for creating bold, eye-catching upholstery or dynamic drapery. Its fun texture and energetic palette bring a lively yet sophisticated look to any space.
Patchwork (Tea Party) – Inspired by the aesthetic of a “crazy quilt, Patchwork features a dynamic, eclectic design that combines classic colors with contemporary flair. The fabric’s 53” width design incorporates a planted warp, which is accented by mercerized cotton yarns, creating a textured, pillowed effect reminiscent of a matelassé. This light and airy design offers a custom, artistic take on vibrant, eccentric textile patterns, making it a perfect choice for creating a statement in both residential and commercial interiors.
Hikaru (White Birch) – Meaning “light” or “illumination” in Japanese Hikaru was originally conceived by Brentano Founder Iris Wang as a watercolor on rice paper. Inspired by the fluid movement of watercolor pigments blending together, Hikaru is a metallic wallcovering that captures the same ethereal, cloud-like effect. The fine metallic ink plays with light and shadow, creating a dimensional, luminous quality. Ideal for accent walls, luxury interiors, and high-end boutique spaces, Hikaru brings a unique, artistic element to any environment.
We are incredibly proud to see these designs featured in Material Bank’s 2024 list and look forward to seeing how these innovative textiles continue to inspire the design community. For a full list of all products included in this year’s 2024 Material Bank Most Sampled, click here.
